Marin’s Civic Center provides end-of-trip facilities, including showers and bike racks and lockers. SMART provides secure bike lockers and U-racks at their stations. Marin County encourages the inclusion of end-of-trip facilities in new developments and has bicycle parking minimum requirements for new commercial and multi-family projects in alignment with CALGreen standards.
Major transit stations, like the new San Rafael Transit Center, SMART stations in downtown areas, and ferry terminals, can implement this TDM strategy to remove barriers to bicycle transportation at multi-modal mobility centers. Employment hubs that currently offer bicycle parking can expand the benefits they offer by installing bicycle maintenance facilities and showers.
